One of my facets are critical art works. Especially the bloody history of Guatemala is an important topic in my art. Memoria histórica, a collective memory, is a necessary condition for healing the wounds of a society.
These works are dedicated to the question of the many disappeared persons in Guatemala (and other countries, of course). Since the beginning of the decades-long civil war in the 1960s thousands of persons have disappeared - their relatives still don't know about their destiny.
With the project Como graficar el olvido (How to illustrate Forgetting) I try to capture the forgetting: In which ways do people try to forget? Do they manage to do so? Can you really forget your loved ones or is it just too dangerous to search for them?
